著者略歴 (「BOOK著者紹介情報」より)

大塚 敬節
1900年(明治33)、高知市に生まれる。1923年、熊本医専卒。同年、湯本求真に師事して漢方医学を学ぶ。1931年より漢方専門にて開業。以来、漢方復興の先駆的活動をつづけ、1950年、同志と共に日本東洋医学会を創立、同学会理事・評議員・会長・理事長等を歴任。また1974年、社団法人北里研究所附属東洋医学総合研究所設立と共に初代所長に就任、1978年からは財団法人日本漢方医学研究所理事長を兼任し、名実ともに今日における漢方興隆の基礎を築いた。その功績により1978年、日本医師会最高有功賞を受賞。1980年10月15日死去(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

初めて漢方にふれる人にも読みやすく、理解しやすく、後々調べやすい本です。漢方の歴史、漢方の診断の方法、薬方についての分かりやすい解説、病状別の治療に関して、薬方の分量つきの説明などなど、それぞれのカテゴリが分類されているので、頭の中をすっきりさせながら読み進められます。手放せない一冊です。

素人でも読める医学書。
医師でないので残念ながら素晴らしさはよくわからないが、
まずこの本を押さえておけば、最低限の事は知れる気がする。
素人には最後の訓示が効く。以下p.258より引用。
「散木になるな」
散木というのは、中心になる幹がなくて、薪にしかならない小木の集まりのことである。
漢方の世界は広いから、研究の方法を誤ると薪にしかならない散木のようなものになってしまう恐れがある。
まずは1本の幹になるものを選んで、これをものにするまでは、あれこれと心を動かさないことが必要である。
幹が亭々と空にそびえるようになれば、枝、葉は自然に出てくる

5.0 out of 5 stars 学術研究の心構えも説いた漢方入門書です, 2009/9/27
　本書は、漢方薬の最も初歩的概説に過ぎないかもしれませんが、付録の『漢方医学を研究せんとする人のために』を読んで共感を得ました。要約すれば『志をたてる。散木になるな(大道を見誤るな)。師匠につく事。』とあります。これは、学術研究に携わる者全てに共通する古典的ながら基本的なガイダンスが説かれてあるように思いました。漢方に興味を持った人は、まず本書を読んでから、創元社刊行の『漢方概論』,『臨床応用傷寒論概説』などの高度な専門書に進むと良いでしょう。
