ケルズの書はケルトの土着信仰と融合して生まれた書であり、キリストの聖書（福音聖書）なかでもっとも美しい本だとされている本です。
本書は、そのケルトの書を解説した本で象徴的な装飾文字も大きく丁寧に紹介されて読みやすいですね。中世のキリスト美術を堪能できる良い本だと思います。
ケルト文化に興味のある方はぜひ読んでみてください。

　中世のケルト修道院で制作された最高傑作にして、世界の書物芸術の傑作『ケルズの書』を、翻訳で読める至福を味わっています。
　
　トリニティー・カレッジ図書館（ダブリン大学）では、有名な装飾ページが展示されていますが、この本で、ほかにもたくさんのカリグラフィーにつけられたケルト文様の妙味を見ることができます。

　キリストの頭文字のページなど、有名なページは、やはりこの本でも圧巻で、ケルト文様の繊細なラビリンスは、エンヤの曲と歌声のように神秘的な無窮運動をたたえています。

　書物のデザイン、文字の装飾、カリグラフィー、ウィリアム・モリス、中世趣味など、さまざまな関心に読者に応えてくれると思います。

　私はインテリアとしても、飾って楽しんでいます。世にも美しい、ケルト文様に満ちた写本の再現に成功した本といえます。

ケルズの書について、英語で読むのはかなりな時間が掛かります。大好きな鶴岡真弓先生が翻訳されている本を発見して思わず、わあって叫んでしまいました。早速ＡＭＡＺＯＮさんにオーダーして手にした本のすばらしさは一押しです。「ケルズの書」の翻訳本の決定版と思います。
