初代リカちゃん好きならご存知の当時のリーフレットや写真も多めでリカちゃん誕生にまつわる数々のエピソードが興味深い一冊です。
ただこれを読むともっともっと知りたくなってしまいました。
この本では初代リカ、リカちゃんハウスの誕生からレディリカまでなんです。同じ時代に販売されたタカラのほかのお人形の（たとえばピチピチリカとかチビッコメイトとか二代目リカちゃんトリオとかキャンディちゃんとか）エピソードも是非何かの機会に発表していただけたらと思います。当時は子供だったので遊ぶこと専門でしたけど大人になるとあれこれ懐かしく思いいれもあります。
本書の末尾部分の作者の問いかけに胸を打たれました。読んでよかったと思いました。

タカラの「リカちゃん」人形初代開発担当者が語るリカちゃん誕生秘話は、当時のリカちゃんがカラーでもふんだんに挿入されているので、この本そのものがリカちゃんハウスみたいな可愛さがあった。
もちろん中身は、リカちゃんが生み出される開発はもちろん、当時のノートから感じた感情なども交えきちんとした開発秘話であり、おままごとな内容ではない。
向こう見ずに猪突猛進した開発秘話は、なんでも綺麗に仕上げてしまおうとする大人と違い、「ごちゃごちゃしてるからいいの」と答えたこどもの感性をリカちゃんハウスに反映させたタカラの熱意がこちらにも伝わる本だった。
