青い目に黒髪の少女かぐやは、自分の出生を知らない。そんなある日、見知らぬ使者たちに、自分は「あなないの娘」だといわれ異世界に連れ去られてしまう。多元宇宙にいくつも存在する地球。時空のズレによって、それらの地球同士が衝突し、滅亡するという日が近づくなか、ただ一つ生き残る界をかぐやは選択しなくてはいけないというのだが…。とか、そんな感じのあらすじです。
ファンタジーが舞台の漫画ですが、世界観はSF要素が強いです。
[生ける武器]とか[伝説のパーティのその後]とか[予言の娘]とか[滅亡の国の王子]とか[真打ちは実は●●●●]とか、ピンと来る方、どうぞ。主人公の名前は「かぐや」ですが、別に逆ハーレムの漫画ではありません。
いきなり異世界に飛ばされて、心細く旅を続けるあたりなんか、12国記を想像してもらえると分かりやすいかもしれません。でも、最強の兵器人形がついてたり、ヒロインの性格とかはむしろ正反対のおっとり系ですので、あまり殺伐感とかもないです。
なるしまさんの作品はストーリーテリングが醍醐味なので、そのようなものを漫画に期待する方には、完結しましたし、これを機に一気読みなんかがいいかも。それに飛び飛びで読むと、ラスト一冊が濃縮の展開なので、この一冊だけ展開がバタバタと感じる面あり。通しで読んだら、話自体は非常にまとまってました。あとはヒーロー、ヒロインに感情移入できるかがミソ。

書き下ろしでようやく完結しました。全７巻です。

かぐやは「普通」の女の子。
それがある日、「あなないの娘を迎えにきた」と不思議な人たちがやって着て…。

多次元宇宙の滅亡が近い中、誰もが生きる術を追い求めています。
自分や自分の大切な人を守るため、誰もが一生懸命です。
そんな中で「普通」の女の子、かぐやはいったい何ができるのでしょう。

登場人物がみんな自分の信念を持ち、本当の意味での悪役は存在しません。
無敵のヒーローも、派手なアクションも存在しません。
情報戦や心理戦がメインです。
その意味で少年漫画というより、少女漫画的です。

以前別の漫画の後書きで「設定は嘘（フィクション）ばっかりだけど、人と人との間のことは嘘をつかずに書いていきたい」と仰っていました。

だから、登場人物がみんな魅力的なのかな。

かぐや姫の逸話を題材に取り入れた少女コミックと言えば、自分は清水玲子さんの「輝夜姫」、そしてこの「プラネット・ラダー」を思い浮かべます。

4歳の時、戦争孤児のような身なりで竹藪で発見された青い目のかぐや。

裕福な家に引き取られた彼女の毎日は、ある事件をきっかけに暗転する。

更に、不思議な格好、容姿、武器を持った人間や人形がかぐやの前に現れて…というファンタジックな世界観です。


大人しいけど優しくて芯が強いかぐやの台詞に時々グッときたり。
段々この後明らかになって行きますが、幾つ世界が出てくるんだっていうぐらいの、ひたすらスケールがデカいお話です。


なるしま作品の魅力の一つとして、独特の世界の手触りというか設定というかがあると思います。

幾つもの謎、ファンタジックな世界観なのに妙にリアルな主人公の心情、などなど語り尽くせない、語るのが難しい要素が一杯です。


新刊も待ち遠しい作者の、なるしまゆりカラー満載の作品の一つ。ファンもそうでない方もゼヒ。
