　世の中には文字が氾濫しています。コンピューターの発達により、デザインが身近におこなえるようになりました。　
　
　グラフィックデザインにおける革新的タイポグラフィには、長い歴史があります。先人の優れた成果を知り、把握する事により、新しい発想が浮かぶと思います。

　本書は、モダン・タイポグラフィの歩みをたどり、２０世紀のタイポグラフィを記録したものである。
　
　シンプルで、説明は少ないし、制作方法などは載っていない。しかし、載っている作品が多いし、数々のデザイナーの思想が載っていてタイポグラフィへの考え方が良く解ると思います。

とある人物のお勧めで購入しました、近代タイポグラフィ作品を通じて自分の可能性を見出す為には良い出版物です。この分野における代表作品だけでなく、商用製品、作者不詳のポスターまで、文字としてだけで無くその作品のデザインを通じてリズムやイメージを連想させる良い参考書になりそうです。内容的には個々の作品とその作者の説明文がちょこっと乗ってるだけなので少し味気ない印象です、価格が高いのも難点かと思います。
