　おなじみの政治評論家による、
政権交代直後の民主党政権の解説と同時に政治入門でもある。

　前著政権力 (青春新書)で自民党政権の歴史を見てきたが、
今度は発足したばかりの民主党政権を中心とした視点である。
日本の政策課題と民主党のマニフェストなどからみる論点の指摘は、
初心者にわかりやすい。

　ただし、日本の論点として著者が挙げていない点があり、
それは若年者にまつわる問題である。
　例えば、２０代の雇用問題は喫緊の課題であるはずだが、
著者はこの問題に解決策を持っていないせいか、
むしろ老人福祉のほうに注目しているようだ。
　
　そのように読んでいると、
論点が十分に網羅されていないようにも思えるが、
民主党のマニフェストにある程度沿った見方はなされているので、
入門書としての役割は十分であると思う。

　たかじんのそこまで言って委員会で有名な政治評論家である三宅先生の著書です。

　政治についての基本的な事項から民主党の問題点までわかりやすく説明されています。

　選挙権を行使する国民として、ぜひ、身につけておきたい政治の知識と言えると思います。

　日本政治の基礎を知りたいというひとにはちょうどいい本だろうと思います。

2009年秋、今が旬の本で、鳩山内閣の実績が未知の段階での期待と環境を説明する本です。予算が確定し、年度が替われば無意味な本となると思います。
私自身は、新聞でピンポイントの社会情勢を知るよりは、雑誌や本で流れや全体像を掴む方が情報の把握には役に立つと考えています。そういった意味では、今読むべき本だと思います。
首相の考えと現実とのギャップ、現実の仕組みなど、やや現首相に好意的に説明された内容です。

蛇足：個人的には首相が頭を下げて「ごめんなさい。無理でした。景気が回復すれば実施します」とマニフェストの撤回をするのがこの国のためになると思っていますが。
