　火山＆地震大国日本。生活するうえで何かと大変泣くにだけど、神様は、そんな日本人に温泉という素敵なプレゼントをしてくれた。この本を読むと、そんな思いを抱く。そして、古くから守り継がれてきた木造の温泉宿は京都や奈良の寺社に負けないくらい、立派な文化遺産であるというのがわかる。今、何かと温泉の危機が叫ばれているが、この本をすべての温泉宿に配って、日本が大切に守り続けてきた♨文化というものを継承してもらいたい。

温泉を楽しみたい人にはうってつけの紹介本。温泉としてのたたずまいや、雰囲気も紹介。安全な掛流し温泉も後半紹介している。全編カラーで、髪質も良くＡ４版と大きくて結構重い。これがこの値段で買えるのはお値打ちだと思う。この本を見ていると、安いパックツアーでなく、電車か自家用車でこの本に紹介されている旅館を目当てだけに行きたくなってくる。
ただ、関西より西方面の紹介が少ないのは寂しい。一覧表として紹介されているが、やはりページを増量してでも掲載して欲しかったです。
このため星一つ減点。

　温泉遺産。昔から受け継いできた旅館のたたずまいや湯舟の様子は、京都や奈良の社寺に負けずとも劣らない文化遺産であるというのが、全編から伝わってきている。そして、温泉に対する思い入れ伝える豪華な執筆人。これ一冊で、日本の温泉遺産がよくわかる。

　読んでいてわかったこと、本物の温泉に入ろうとすれば、平日でも１泊軽く１万円を超えるというのがよくわかった。サービスを買うのにも、お金がいるのね。
