社会派小説でありながら...そこにとどまらず、前作『稲の旋律』よりもこなれた文体と展開。旭爪さん自身の成長を感じさせる秀作です。
それぞれがそれぞれの思いや悩みを抱えながら生きていく時、人と人は思わぬところですれちがい、それでも頼りあいながら　それぞれの道を歩き始める...そんな人のもろさと強さ、あたたかさを感じられる作品になっていると思います。社会問題を絡めながら物語が展開していきます。その中で　他人からみれば　『なんで、そんなことに悩むの？』　と感じるような５人それぞれの悩みや思いを丁寧に丁寧に扱っています。おそらく、『一人の人間が抱える問題は、（他人からは取るに足らないと見えようと）　社会問題と同等の重さがある』　という旭爪さんの　『人』　に対する思いが表現されているのだと思います。最後の数ページは、それぞれの思いが淡々と、時には熱く噴出すように語られていきます。そして、最後の最後の一文。ここに、新たに一歩を踏み出していく若者の　不安と期待に満ちた思い　が凝縮されます。
旭爪さん、　この最後の数ページで　登場人物の言葉を借りて、ご自身の体験をすべて伝えていませんか？　これはご自身が別の形で実際に体験していないと書けない内容に思うのですが...。
前作とこの作品に、そしてなによりもこの小説を紹介してくれた友人に感謝しています。
