　とにかく、読んでて楽しい。重い題材を扱っているはずなのだが、登場人物の明るさ（前向きな姿勢）がそれを感じさせない。人が「生きるために本当に大切なこと」が感じられた。しかも、それが押し付けがましくなく、読者にも自然と「実感」として伝わる書き方で書かれているのが素晴らしいと感じられた。

　ただし、それだけに本当はずっしりと重み（読者にとって）を持たなくてはならない部分が、やや軽く流されてしまいがち（読者が素通りしてしまいかねない）部分が感じられた。それは「問題の表面をなぞっている」という意味ではなく「しっかりと書かれている」にもかかわらず、そういう「印象を与えかねない」という部分で、そこが惜しかったと思う。しかし、こういった書き方の場合、それは仕方がないことなのかもしれない。

シングルファーザー（子育て）、高校教師、演劇、文化祭、戦争と平和など様々な切り口があるが、不思議と読みづらさを感じない。「私小説？エッセイ？」という感じだが、努めて自分を突き放して描いていることでかえってよく伝わるものがある作品。文化祭の演劇に悪戦苦闘する姿にはとくに共感を覚えた。日頃この手（？）の本を読まない私でも十分に楽しめた。高校の先生や生徒はぜひ読んでみてほしい。
