綺麗な顔だちに、消せない暗い影がある１７歳の広海。高校にも通わず、払う必要のない借金を返済するという自矜のためだけに生きている男の子。彼は、いつも月村先生の物語にいる、若さ故、生い立ち故に自意識過剰で、自分を卑下する心が知らないうちに他人を傷つけたり、というタイプです。

なのではじめのうちは人間不信で、がっかりしたり傷付いたりしたくないから他人を信用せず、寄せつけず、厚意にも疑ってかかっていたのですが、あるきっかけから小さな女の子とその父と思いがけず幸せな時間を過ごすようになります。

物語がすすむにつれ、広海は恋もして苦しかったり嬉しかったりもして。。。。そうして、だんだんしあわせが行き渡ってゆく感じがとても暖かいのです。ひとを見直す過程、見直させてくれる過程がいいです。
広海と一緒に、世の中に対して、他人に対して、肯定的にさせてくれる、暖かくて優しくて、大好きな物語です。

月村奎先生の、自分の中では最高の一作だと思います。

現代の人たちとどこか被るような、どこか孤独感のある主人公にとても感情移入できて、半分も読んだ頃には涙うるうるでした。
イラストは黒江ノリコ先生で、静謐で透明な月村先生の世界観にイメージリンクしやすいです。

人のことを想って静かに泣きたいひとに、是非お薦めの一作です。

　主人公の広海君は、世の中を悪い方へと考えてしまう癖のある１７歳です。もっとも、悪い方へ考えるのは、過去のせいなのですが。
　人との出会いによって、そんな彼の心が変わってゆく物語です。
　ウサギの箸置きの話に泣けてしまいました。
　いやあ、本てしみじみ良いものですね。
