紫禁城を占拠された皇帝は日本公使館に逃げ込み、やがて父祖の地へ帰る機会をうかがう。
内務府の腐敗摘発、宦官の追放など宮廷改革に挺身する皇帝であったが、1924年、紫禁城が占拠されると、皇帝は著者とともに日本公使館に身を寄せる。紫禁城は完全に闇に閉ざされ、皇帝は、いよいよ父祖の地へと向かう。

「紫禁城の黄昏」事件と言ってもいい岩波版の一連の意図的な誤訳、悪質な省略
が発覚して、何であれ翻訳本というものは他人の思考及びバイアスがかかったもので
あることを痛感させられる。
この事件以来、いかなる翻訳本を読む場合でも“解説本”と意識して読むことにしている。
と同時に巷間の常識なるものは己自身で検証しないといけないと痛切に思う。
本書の内容だが、本書の現代的意義と言うのは上巻でのレビューで書いておられる方も　　　

いるがやはり満洲は満洲人のものであったということだろう。
そういった本書のキモを意図的にハズした岩波書店、入江 曜子＆春名 徹には
強い怒りを感じる

　完訳上巻では、岩波書店によって大半がカットされてしまった部分が復元された。本書は、後半部分でこれらは、岩波版でも一応、訳されていたが、肝心の第１６章が、カットされており、それが復活した。
　ここでは、満州王朝であった「清」が、満州での建国を考えていたことを示す様々な資料がある。そうであれば、「満州国」は無理やり日本軍が「清」の皇帝を引きずり出したという東京裁判史観は成り立たなくなるといえないまでも、清の側にもその出身地満州に戻ってやり直したかったという｢動機」があったことが分かる。それをどこまで重視するかは判断者によるかもしれないが。
　いずれにせよ、岩波書店が恣意的にこの章を外した意図はハッキリしている。「満州国は日本がでっち上げた国」という東京裁判史観に少しでもマイナスになる部分は、東京裁判史観〜自虐史観の「進歩的文化人」を抱える出版社としては、営業上うまくなかったからだろう。
　そんなことで本を改竄し、歴史を改竄し、ジャーナリズムといえるのであろうか？不思議だ。
