10年前、3095人の人間が理由も分らぬまま消え去った事件が起こった。その街では今も消え去った人々がいるかのように日常の日々が続いている。
7つの短編からなる物語は、１人の女性、沙弓が街を訪れるところから始まる。しかし、この女性を媒介とした一つの物語である。この物語は人と人の心の繋がりの大切さを私たちに気づかせてくれる物語です。読後に心が揺すられます。静かなる感動・・・。

三崎亜記の新作。
長編ですが、
一つずつも独立したストーリーとなっており、
互いに連鎖し合っている。
そのバランスが良く、
それぞれにもう一度出会える気がして、
なんか嬉しい。

以前の長編『失われた町』と続く世界。
そこでは町の消失がテーマだったが、
この町では、
ある場所だけにいた人たちだけが消失してしまった。
それから１０年。
どこかで生き続けているような、消失した人たち。
消失した図書館の貸出記録、
消失した人たちからのラジオリクエスト、
消失した路線バスの光、
特定の人にだけ聞こえる消失した鐘の音。

そして、その１０年の間、
時を止められたかのごとく、
失われた人たちを思い続けた人たち。
その悲しみを乗り越えて、
未来に生きる人たちのために、
解放へと向かう物語。

新しい出会いとともに、
回復の兆しを感じる、
希望の物語でもあった。

10年前の事件で心に痛みを持った人たちがやるせない心を持ちながらも、関わり、自分なりに生き方を見つけていく姿を各章ごとに綴っています。見えないものを受け入れている・・・というより関わらないようにし、それでも忘れたくない複雑な心のやり場を探している人たちのお話です。ひとつひとつの話がゆるく繋がり、そしてほんのり暖かい恋愛にも繋がっています。素敵な作品だと思います。三崎作品が好きな方には“ピン”とくる『動物園にヒノヤマホウオウを展示中とありましたね』とか『この町は既に「七階撤去」が完了していたの・・・』とかの宝探し繋がりも楽しめます。は、さておき、・・・せめて「失われた町」は読んでおいたほうがよいと思われます。
