前作「観覧車」を読んで以来、続編を待ちわびておりました。
あの終わり方、唯のテンションも私のテンションも盛り上がるだけ盛り上がっていました。
なのに、なのに…。
あのテンションからの続きがどうしてこれなの?
実際に、前作から今作までの間に、何年も経過したんだと思います。
しかし、物語上は上下巻のようにつながった展開なのです。続いて書かれたように、感じさせて下さい。
何だか唯のキャラクターまで、少し違うようです。
夫が失踪した経緯も、説得力ないなあ〜。
柴田さんって、もっと女性心理について、鋭く深く書ける人なんですよ!
今まで読んできたどの柴田作品も、これより面白く、必ず「ドキッ」とさせられる部分があったのに、今作はすぐ忘れそうな作品です…。

この作品は「観覧車」という作品の続編。この中では貴之の
失踪の理由が分からなかった。やっと続編が読める。この
作品を手に取ったときそう思った。なぜ貴之が失踪したのか？
その謎がずっと心に引っかかっていた。失踪の理由は、誰もが
「こんなものだろう。」と言うような、無難なものにまとめ
られていたが・・・。それにしても唯のように１０年以上も
待てるだろうか？どんなに愛していたとしても、その年月は
残酷なほど長い。その年月に負けず劣らず残酷な現実も待って
いたのに。はたして唯はこれから先、それをどのように受け
止めて生きていくのか？新たな一歩を踏み出そうとする唯。
唯の本当の物語は、ここからが始まりなのだ。

夫の突然の失踪後十一年。帰る場所を残しておくため夫の仕事を継ぎ調査事務所の探偵になった唯。一年前、仕事で訪れた新潟で佐渡へ渡るフェリー乗り場で見かけた夫らしき姿を手がかりに同業の友人の手を借りて足取りを追う。何故、突然の失踪なのか?
何故この十一年連絡もないのか?　連れの女性は?　失踪前夜、住んでいた京都で起きたホームレスの死に関係があるのか?　不安と疑問の渦巻く中やっと捜し当てた先で会ったのは、自分と同じ名前の少女“ゆい”。後もう少しこのままで居させてくれと夫と会うことを拒む人々。彼らはいったい何を隠しているのか?　京都の『冷泉の桜』と酵母パンの味と香りが二人の距離を縮めて行き、清冽な湖畔から漂う清い空気の様に失踪前と変わらぬ二人の想い。すべての謎が解けたとき十一年という時の長さがまたしても二人を阻む・・・。この二人会える日がくるのでしょうか?　それは読んでのお楽しみ!
