ここのところ立て続けに新作が発表されている感のある菅浩江先生の一本ものの短編です。

医療用介護ロボットの主人公が、自分自身に自我があることに気づき病院での看護のかたわら「本来の自分」を探していく物語です。

いつもの短編に比べると物語のオチが弱い感じはするんですが、しっかりとした構成で読ませるところは読ませてくれて、その辺は「さすが」といったところでしょうか。

人間の本質はどこにあるのか、それは姿形が変わってしまっても変わらないのかどうか、など考えさせられるものがありました。

値段も安いので気軽に買って読める作品でしょう。

　ハートフル医学…ミステリ？ＳＦ？家族愛と自分探しがテーマらしい、さわやかな１冊。絶対ね、〈これ、ラスト途中でわかっちゃったよ！〉という人がいると思うんだけど、ヒロインに付き合いながら、じっくり自分探しを楽しむのがオススメ。

文庫で150頁あまりの中編。ラストには胸が熱くなったのと同時に、
できれば長編で読んでみたかった、とも思いました。
話に引き込まれて、さあこれからというところで、もうラストが
来てしまったみたいな。うーん、なんかもったいないなあと。

目覚めたら機械のボディになっていたミキが、病院で患者の介護に

あたりながら、「自分は何者なの？」と問いかけていく話。
生きること、死ぬことが身近に感じられる環境の中で、
自分は一体何者なのだろうと問いかけていくミキ。
彼女が必死に記憶を探り、答えを見つけようと思い悩む姿は、
見ていて胸が締めつけられました。

それと、菅さんの文章、擬音の使い方がとても上手ですね。

そう感じた箇所を、本書の最初のほうからいくつか抜き出してみます。
<< つるり、と簡単にふたりの名前を思い出した。>>
<< すると、むくっとした感触で記憶が湧き上がり、
自分の姿を理解することができた。>>
<< 総看護士長の顔がくしゅっと歪んだ。>>
擬音語を使って、あるイメージをさっと掴まえて表現しているところ。

うまいもんだなあと感心させられました。

「より良く生きること」とか、「人間らしさ」とか、「ロボットの存在と
役割」とか……。
色々と考えさせられる作品でした。
