野口 三千三
1914年、群馬県生まれ。1934年、群馬県師範学校卒業。小学校訓導、群馬師範学校・東京体育専門学校助教授を経て、1949年から東京芸術大学教授。退官後に東京芸術大学名誉教授となる。戦後、「体操による人間変革は可能だ」という信念のもとに、独自の人間観と実技に基づく革命的な「野口体操」を創始。その後、「野口体操」を通して、演劇・美術・音楽等の世界に多大な影響を与える。1998年、逝去(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

野口体操のことはうすうす知っていたが、こんなにも言葉や漢字にこだわったものだとは思ってもいなかった。語源好きや漢字起源好きにもお勧めだ。

きっと、野口体操の実践者に対してのメッセージであると思うのだが、（だから野口体操のほんとのところに関しては、なんじゃらほい、という内容構成である）言葉と身体、あるいは、身体と言葉がこんなにも協働しているということを、知らしめてくれる人物はいないだろう。日常において、いかに言葉のもつ本来の感覚を無視して、話しをしているか。身体感覚を取り戻そうとしている者（私のことで恐縮です）にとっては、言葉の感覚にも敏感にならなければならないと、改めて思うしだいです。

コンニャク体操＝野口体操の指導者、野口三千三先生が、
ひたすらことばにこだわってみた本。

『野口体操　からだに貞く』と外見（本の装丁）は似ているので
ちょっと見た感じでは姉妹本的印象を受けるが、
内容は陰と陽。ネガとポジ。
重心の置きどころが違う。

『からだに貞く』の主役があくまで「からだ」であり、
「ことば」はその内的感覚を伝える為の「従」であったのに対し、
この『おもさに貞く』においては、「ことば」は主役である。
「からだ」を語る「ことば」、それぞれについて、
甲骨文まで遡り、徹底的に本来の意味＝語源が追求されていく。

ところで、こちらの本に掲載されている写真の方が、
「えっ、こんなことできるの？？」的に
野口体操のインパクトが伝わってくるものが多い。
（「ことば」に重点が置かれているので、
　からだを見失わないようにするための配慮かもしれない。）

写真を横目で眺めつつ、「ことば」から入りたい人はこちらから、
できるだけシンプルに「からだ」から入りたい人は
『からだに貞く』から読まれると、どちらも楽しめるだろう。
