ファイティング・ファンタジー世界というと、ゲームブックの背景世界として認識されていますが、純粋にファンタジー世界として、優れものです。実際に『謎かけ盗賊』のようなＲＰＧシナリオも出ているし、『トロール牙峠戦争』（←和訳熱烈希望☆！）などのような小説にも展開しています。

本書『タイタン―ファイティング・ファンタジーの世界』はファイティング・ファンタジー世界の基本的案内書です。無味乾燥なデータなどが並んでいる、というのではなく、読み物として楽しめます。
所々に挿入されているコラムが、読んで楽しいしまた、背景世界を理解する上で役に立ちます。イラストも効果的に配されていますね。

できれば、魔法に関してもっと突っ込んだ体系付けがあったら良かったですね。国や地域、善と悪などによって違うのは分かるのですが。

・何にでも興味を持ち出すとドップリとハマらずには居られない。
・物語の片鱗だけじゃ満足できず、細かい詳細まで気になってしまう。
・資料を手元に置いておかなきゃ気が済まない。
こんな人は要チェックかもしれません。

本書はゲームブック「ファイティング・ファンタジー」シリーズの世界である＜タイタン＞の資料集ですが、それ以上に面白いファンタジー本となっています。
ゲームブック内のそれぞれの出来事をまとめながら、よくぞここまでと思うくらいに架空の世界を造り上げています。
ファイティング・ファンタジーに興味を持った人なら、絶対に読んで損はありません。

遠い昔、小学生だった長い夏休み...。当時、爆発的な人気を誇ったゲームブックの記憶が蘇ります。　いくつかの書籍は復刊されて今もどっぷりとその特徴的な世界観に浸る事ができ嬉しい限りです。その魅惑的な世界観そのものを記述したこの本が今、読めたなら..とそう思わずにはいられません。　いつの日か手に取れる事が叶うなら、それは冒頭に述べた強い日差しに照らし出された少年時代を抱きしめる行為に他なりません。マニア向けの中古本価格に臆することなく手に入れることができます様に...。
