　容赦なく襲う様々な「化学物質」の中でよくこの本を書かれたものです。
　殆どの人にとって何でもない物が凶器となり襲ってくる恐怖は想像を超え言葉を失います。著者を助けたいのに助けられない医者や周囲の人々、なんて複雑な病なのでしょう？それにしても、私達の生活の隅々に入り込んだ無数の化学物質は、本当に必要なものなのでしょうか？
　くじけそうになりながら、ご家族に支えられて、気持ちを立て直して生きていく著者の姿には心をうたれます。わかりやすく、優しい文体にも救われます。この病気が理解され、患者の方々の症状が少しでも軽減されることを祈らずにはいられません。
