字が大きめなので例文はとても少ないですが、
コンパクトで持ち運びに便利な辞書です。
「家族」「動物」などの単語では、同種の単語（叔父、祖父etc.）が
一覧になっていて、使い勝手も良いです。

さらに英語も併記されている点は◎。
日本語は出来ないけど英語は分かるネイティブの先生と話すのにとても便利でした。

ただし・・・
動詞の活用形が（付録にも）一切載っていない！
原形（不定詞）が分からないと全く手掛かりが掴めません(T_T)
結果として初級者には少々ツラい辞書となりました。

この本って初級者向けなハズですよね？

　「日葡辞書」（1603年）のあと、ちょうど、インド航路発見五百年目に「現代日葡辞典」（1997年）が出現、そして1603年から四百年目の2003年に、とっても手ごろなこの「日葡辞典」の誕生、ということで、まさに、青天の霹靂！

　でも、どうして、ごくふつうに利用できる手ごろな辞典がなかったのでしょうか。五十音順ではなくて、同じ漢字をまとめて日本語の項目を作っていた辞典、ポルトガル語を書くために利用しようと思っても、肝心な日本語が載っていない辞典、装丁が中途半端で持ち運びに不便な辞典などなど、という状況で、学生の立場で学ぶときには、一苦労でした。苦しんだ者にしか実感できない、驚きと喜び。どうしても紹介したくなりました。

今までは、「現代ポルトガル語辞典」に付録の和ポを活用していましたが、語彙が少なく、大変苦労しました。この辞典の長所は、単語が五十音順に並んでおり、非常に見つけやすい（つまりローマ字並びでないこと）。単語数が多く、専門語もそこそこ載っている。関連語がまとめて掲載している（例えばコンピュータの項目に、ペースト等、職業の項目に大工等、かと言って、各単語は通常の場所にもある）。訳がシンプルであり、本がコンパクト。短所は、アクセントがカタカナ語で記述されていること。和ポの作業が多い方には必要な辞典だと思います。
