　この本を読むまでカーネル・サンダースについては、「６５歳からフランチャイズビジネスを創て成功した人」という認識しかありませんでした。そのビジネスを少しでも参考にしたいと思って読み始めましたが、とんでもない勘違いでした。彼の人生すべてが参考になりました。

　彼は幾度となく、ふりかかってきた不幸や逆境により、何度も挫折を味わっています。しかし、その度重なる挫折により彼は成長していきます。彼は並外れた優秀なビジネスマンでも職人でもなく、普通の人間だと思います。ただ、彼は人一倍誠実であり、働き者であり、逆境に屈しない精神力を持っている人であったということです。そして、それはなかなか真似できることでは無く、また誰にでも真似できることでもあります。

「どんな状況に置かれようと自分からあきらめることはしない」
「何を始めるにしても、ゼロからのスタートではない。失敗や無駄だと思われることなどを含めて、今までの人生で学んできたことを、決して低く評価する必要は無い」

　私はフライドチキンは好物ではありませんが、久しぶりに食べてみようと思います。
