藤平 光一
1920年東京下谷生まれ。慶應義塾大学卒業。病弱のため、強い心と身体を求め、「禅」や「みそぎの呼吸法」を修行。十九歳の時から合氣道を学び、最高段位十段を得る。世界中で心身統一合氣道を普及。現在は第一線を退き、息子・藤平信一が継承者として普及活動を続ける(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

呼吸という普段の生活では無意識で行なわれている活動を、改めて意識させてもらった本である。臍下に意識を集中し、呼吸するという何でもないことだが、これが意外にやってみるとなかなか難しい。丹田に気を貯め、それを全身に送る。それにより血液もエネルギーも全身に行き渡らせることができる。誰にでも分かりやすく、実践し易いようにこの本では説明してくれている。病気ではないのに、不定愁訴、どこか何か調子がいま一つ、疲れやすいなどで悩んでいる方には一読の価値はあるかもしれない。何といっても、普段何も意識しないでしている呼吸に一工夫を加えるだけのことで、体調は確かに僅かだが良くなるのだから不思議だ。ヨガ・気功・合気道古くから人間は、呼吸の大切さを理解していたのだろうと納得させられた。

以前に購入した本書ですが、先日、雑誌「pen」の「プロが選ぶ、究極の1冊」という特集で俳優の藤原竜也さんがこの本を紹介していました。「知る人ぞ知る」本でしたので、とても驚きました。
著者は合気道十段で、世界中に合気道を普及した人物です。呼吸法について写真入りで具体的に書かれています。巻末には著者の弟子である野球評論家の広岡達朗さんの解説が載っています。
ちなみに、藤原さんは「心を静める」（幻冬舎）という本も推薦していて、この本でも同じ呼吸法が紹介されています。こちらもオススメです。
