ドラマの予告を新聞で読んで、これは面白そうだと早速読み始めたら、
一日で読んでしまった。どろどろしていて、ざらざらしていて、非日常
的なのに、気付くとなぜか主人公４人のどの女性にも、共感していた。
最近暑さや体調不良で、なかなか元気が出なかったのだけど、読み終わ
ったら、不思議と元気になっている自分に気付いて、びっくりした。

私はこの物語の主人公たちと同い年です。（男ですが・・・）
社会通念からいうと４０才をすぎれば立派な大人で不惑の年代のはずなんですが、自分自身の感覚ではまだまだ恋愛など様々な欲望に支配され悩んでいる人が多いと思います。この物語を読んでいると、主人公たちが自分の本当の友人のような気がしてきて、切ない気分になりました。悩み多き４０代におすすめの物語です。

ドラマを見始めたが、なんとなくドラマより原作の方が面白いのではないか・・・という感じがして、本を読んでみたら、勘が正しかったことを知った。
ドラマよりも、四人の主人公の過去の人間関係がクリアに描かれていて、高校時代の彼女たちの若さゆえの刹那さ、稚拙さが胸にぐんと刺してくるようであり、40代前半になった現在の心情をよりわかりやすく、物語を噛み応えあるものにしている。
文章に引き込まれ、時間の経つのも忘れて、一度によんでしまった。
少し残念な気がするのは、最後の方に起きる、詩文が巻き込まれる「事件」で、性的描写やその事件の残忍さが、読後の爽快感を奪っているような気がした。
