　写真誌「スクランブル」の創刊から廃刊までの若者たちの奮闘ぶりがうかがえる哀しいけども熱い快作。個人的には80年代に「流通を制するものが世を制す」という旨の言葉が社長（村西とおる）から語られているのが、そのまま現代に通じるキーワードのようで印象深かった。

徒手空拳で成り上がってきた裏本の帝王と出会い、青年はその熱気に押されるように写真週刊誌を創刊する。
会社を設立する過程、資金繰りに頭を悩ませるなど非常にリアルで面白い。

村西とおるになる前の帝王の「流通を制するものが資本主義を制する」という発言やマグマのような行動力に何か既視感を覚えた。
孫正義の本を読んだのを思い出した。そっくりだわ。

アウトロー的な写真週刊誌というのも反社会的でわかる気がする。

大学を出た後の２０代なら誰もが社会に対して野心を持ち、何かになろうと思っているのではなかろうか。
帝王を金主として始まった週刊誌は、金主の没落とともに終刊。
祭りは終わってしまう。
そんな熱い時期を描いた青春小説としても読める。
