藤平 光一
1920年東京下谷生まれ。慶応義塾大学卒業。病弱のため、強い心と身体を求め、「禅」や「みそぎの呼吸法」を修行。十九歳の時から合気道を学び、最高段位十段を得る。世界中で合気道の普及に尽力。「気の研究会」を組織し、以後、心身統一道、気の原理の普及に務める(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

読み始めたら面白くて「あっ！」という間に藤平さんの世界に引きずり込まれました。

英語でいうところのメンターやマスターという存在である「師」。

師を複数持つことの大切さを教わりました。

そして宇宙の理、氣、心のことが心に染みこむように「あぁ」という氣づきがやってきました。

自分の経験から語ること。

それを素直に受け取ること。

そこに何かが起きるではないかと確信した。

日本古来から伝わる文化を大切にすると決めた１冊です。

本書の中では中村天風の偉大さが強調され、植芝盛平についてはどちらかというと欠点の指摘が目に付く。
しかし印象により強く残るのは植芝盛平の方であった。神格化されていないが故の人間らしさの魅力というべきか。
これだけ世話になっておきながら師匠の批判をするなど許しがたいという意見もあろうが、
合氣道の最高段位を受けた直弟子が、開祖・植芝盛平を神格化せずに描写した資料は貴重なものだと思う。

合気道開祖植芝盛平氏の弟子、藤平光一さんの自伝のような
本です。修行時代、戦争時代、そしてタイトルにある
お二人との出会い。そして共に過ごした時間。
生きた体験が書かれていて、すごく面白かったです。
どちらも神格化されることの多い中、著者の冷静な視点から見る
人間味あふれた、長所も欠点もある２人の姿が描かれています。

僕が読んで感じたのは「やっぱりすごいな」ということ。
この２人と、著者の藤平さん。
すごく工夫されておられて、この人たちが日本を引っ張ってきたんだと
すごく納得できました。
このような「技を極めた人」という姿にはすごく憧れます。

結局、自分を極めれば、あるひとつの真理に達するのではと感じさせてくれた一冊。中村天風と植芝盛平を師にもった著者の視点は鋭く、歯に衣着せぬ文章で興味深い。
