1960年愛知県生まれ。日本大学芸術学部卒。脚本家として数々のヒット作を生み出す。97年「破線のマリス」で第四三回江戸川乱歩賞、「恋愛時代」で第四回島清恋愛文学賞、98年「結婚前夜」「眠れる森」で第一七回向田邦子賞、2001年「深紅」で第二二回吉川英治文学新人賞を受賞する。04年6月27日歿(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

「いかにもテレビ的」なあざといシーン。
鼻持ちならぬ細部。
油断したかのような安易な表現。
それでも彼の小説への情熱はどの作家よりも優れている気がしていた。
「どんなに罪深い過ちを犯していようと、すべてを引き受け、その人生を生きろ」
この野沢の言葉に触れ、この作家を信じて読んでいこうと思っていた。

野沢の自殺と彼の作品との整合がとれず、未だに混乱している。
生きていてほしい作家であり、生きてほしい時期だったのに。
作品は作者の手を離れる。作品が人間野沢を超えていった。
今はそう考えるしかない。

この小説では、銃を構えるまでの逡巡や、
覚悟を決めた直後の被害者との一瞬の交感など、
小説でしかできない表現がふんだんに登場していたように思う。
解説は野沢への哀悼と悔しさが伝わる美しい文章になっている。
野沢好きは是非文庫で読んでほしい。
野沢もまた、仕事後に自分を責めるシュウのように、
人に言えない苦悩があったのだろうか。
次の作品が読めないことがただ悲しい。

マル暴、殺し屋、次々と出てくる『殺し屋』の武器である拳銃の名称・・・暗黒の裏世界を描きつつも、どこか読んでいてさわやかな印象が感じられるのは、主人公シュウの完全には冷徹になり切れない人間性が随所に読み取れるからであろうか。そのごく平凡な人間としての表情が読み手を一層惹きつける。
　切ないがどこか全体的に優しい、救いの一種の様なものを感じる作品だと思う。

　「狂犬」と呼ばれた父親、彼と別れることのできなかった母、崩壊寸前の家庭環境の中で父に恨みを抱きながらも、時折見せる父の強さに惹かれてしまう主人公修。といった様な感じでこの物語は進んでいく。
　テレビのドラマ向きの作品。話にスピード感があり、暇をつぶすには十分な作品だ。個人的に一番好きな話は「シュート・ミー」だ。華やかに見える人の表と裏、またそれを取り巻く環境。物事には見えない部分が多々ある．．．
