1億5000万円の借金を背負ったら、死を選択する人がいると思います。
この本は、その借金を1分間1000円で殴り放題という"殴られ屋"で返そうとする晴留屋明の生き様を描いた本です。

歌舞伎町コマ劇場前に毎晩立ち、家族のために"殴られ屋"を生業とするその凄まじい生きざまを見ていると、人間はどういう手段を使っても生きる方法がある、という勇気を得た思いです。リストラや借金苦に苦しんでいる世の中年男性へのエールともいうべき本でしょうか。

普通、そのような内容ですと、暗い話として読後感も暗くなりますが、本来の性格の明るさとユーモアあふれるエピソードが全編に溢れ、"殴られ屋"で借金返済をするこの方法に賛同すら覚えます。

流石に、世界でこのような仕事を生業としているのは、一人だけですから、様々な国のメディアから取材申しこみがあったようです。マスコミに受けようと受けまいと、ただひたすら"殴られ屋"を営む壮絶な人生の結末はどうなのでしょうか。この後の続編も期待しているのですが････。
幻冬舎アウトロー文庫に相応しい「アウトロー」の生き様です。

晴留屋さんはその人柄の良さがこれまでの人生のボトルネックとなって転落していった。
それでも明るく前向きで、いつでも希望に満ちている彼のことを愛さずにはいられない。
随所々々、涙をこぼしながら毎日を必死に生きなければいけないと、心が引き締められたノンフィクションの一冊。
今の世の中に住むには彼の心はきれいすぎるのだろう。
たくさんの人に読んでもらいたい。
晴留屋さんに幸せになってもらいたい。。
