「人間は顔じゃないから、性格がよければ必ず幸せになれるよ」、などというコトバに慰められつつも、なーんかちょっと、ウソ臭いような･･･。
そう、世の中は所詮「容姿の時代」なのです。

･･･などと言えば、見も蓋もないですが、そんな、世の中の建前に著者の鋭いつっこみが飛び交い、うならされます。実は、話題の「負け犬の遠吠え」の著者だとは知らずに読んだのですが、単なる服装や見た目から現代日本文化論にまで近づけての考察、いやおもしろかった。

日常生活において、私たちはこんなにも見た目に影響され、それに一喜一憂して生きているんだなあ、と感じました。

　なるほど、なるほどと思いながら面白く読んでいましたが、心のなかにオリがたまるようにだんだん不愉快になり・・・読み終わった今は完璧にむかついています。
　センスよく生きることにこだわって、自分の目・他人の目を気にし、窮屈に窮屈に生きている、そのために意地悪で冷たくなっている作者の視線に疲れます。センスよく生きるって、そんなに大切なの？　だいたいセンスよく生きるってどういうことよ？　ちまちましてたら、そのうちセンスなんて考えたこともない怪物に頭からばりばり食われちゃうよ。
　昔はこういうのを「小市民」と呼びました。それも自虐的に「私って小市民」なんていう風に。もしかしたら作者もそう言ってる？　「私って小市民、そして時代も小市民的」って？

女性が老いることに常におびえながら容姿を保とうとする、苛烈な生存競争のような世界に生きていることはよくわかりました。しかし、そういうことを気にしない男性だって沢山いるわけですよ。自分の内面を見て評価してくれる同性や異性だっていると思うんですが。自分の殻に閉じこもりすぎじゃないですかねえ。ひたすら自分の我欲（綺麗になってちやほやされてイケた男にもてたい）を垂れ流すような作風はどうかと思います。冷ややかな目で見て批評の対象としていたオタクや腐女子の妄想とどれだけ差があるんでしょうか。今は男性でもエステや整形に励んだり、小学生でも髪を染めている時代です。辛辣に書くのであれば、逆に男女関係なく国民総出でファッションモデル化やモードの追っかけと化している現状を馬鹿にして笑い飛ばすくらいのパンク的な心持ちが欲しかったところです。

この著者は客観的なネタやコスプレなどの考察では面白い文章が書けますが、こういう自分の怨念を露わにする系統の文章になるとさっぱりですね。「だめんず・うぉーかー」（この作品は全然好きではないですが…）で「男とたくさん付き合っていい男を選ぶ目を養え」というメッセージを発したくらたまの方がまだ何倍も作家として怨念を昇華した作品になってます。
