書評では辛口で鳴る友人が五十嵐貴久をすすめるので、読んでみました。
ホラーとなると、私のスタンダードは「黒い家」です。
はたして、「黒い家」を超えることができるかと、興味津々で読み始めました。
さくさくと読めたのはいいのですが、主人公にもう少しバランス感覚が欲しかったかなというのが感想です。追い詰められてから、私ならこうするのにというじれったさが残りました。
「黒い家」にはくらぶることもなかったですね。

面白かったです！

リカのどんどん迫ってくる恐怖感
小説の中の話なのに、後ろに立って見られているのではないか。
そんな風に感じてしまうほど、リカの存在感が怖いです。

前半は出会い系にハマるまでが長いので
微妙かな？と思う方も多いかもしれませんが
リカが登場してからはどんどん続きが読みたくなります。
後半からは本当に怖いです。
主人公の恐怖感が凄く実感できました。

ただ仕方がないのかもしれませんが
ラストがなー…というところです。

この人の作品は「交渉人」とこれしか読んでないが、共にほとんど同じ感想を抱いた。
他のレビュアーの皆さんも同じことを感じてらっしゃるような気がする。
桐野夏生選考委員の「恐怖の掘り下げが足りない」との評を受けて、ラストを加筆したそうだが、なるほど生理的なダメ押しにはなっているものの、これが果たして「掘り下げ」なんだろうかとの疑問が浮かんだ。
