私は「マダム小林」こと、小林聡美さんの書くエッセイに、いつも元気付けられます。
今回は「初めてのホームステイ＆語学留学」を、彼女なりの目線で軽快に読ませてくれます。
ＴＶで見る彼女のトーク、本で読む彼女の言葉などには、いつも彼女特有の肯定的で透明で心地よい空気が流れて

います。適度にがんばらず、全てをあるがままに受け入れる、ある意味「懐の深さ」みたいなものが、とても素敵だと
感じます。
サラッと読めてしまうのは、決してページ数が多くないからではありません。
「英語や留学なんて興味なし！」という方でも、きっと楽しめると思います。

癒しブームなんて言われていますが、この本には安定剤のような、不思議な効果があると思います。

この本を出すためにニュージーランドに短期留学する事になった小林聡美さん。
たしかに、１週間じゃ短気すぎる気もしますし、実際にページ数もそんなに多くないです。
でも、おもしろいですよ〜やっぱり。
留学なので、英語でしゃべらなくてはいけなくて、でも心の声はもちろん日本語なので、留学の苦しみや喜び、心の中でのツッコミをいつものマダム節で書いています。
留学自体にも少し興味を持ちましたし、英語も楽しそう。でもやっぱり小林聡美さんが楽しそう。
小さなハプニグや、カルチャーショック？にマダムが軽快にツッコミを入れてくれます。
読みやすくサラっ読めます☆たまにクスクス笑ってしまいますが....。

　著者は女優として著名な人物らしい。エッセイも多いという。
　本書は、ニュージーランドに語学留学した体験をまとめたもの。といっても、わずか10日間の滞在であり、語学学校に通ったのも数日でしかない。留学の参考として読む人（そんな人はいないだろうが）には期待はずれだろう。
　むしろ、本書の魅力は著者の独特の人柄にある。へそ曲がりで、意地悪で、わがまま。しかし、読んでいて引き込まれてしまう。ニュージーランドでの体験が、生き生きと伝わってくるのだ。特に、ホームステイ先での人間観察は面白い。
　不思議な読後感であった。
