人間て、こういう生き物なんだよなぁ・・・と改めて思いました。
主人公マサオは、一見弱そうで、でも実際の所、誰よりも強いと感じました。
アオが生々しく、そして心強く感じられました。

いくら子供でも一人の人間ですからね。当たり前ですが感情を持ってます。
世の教師陣に是非とも読んでもらいたいと思ってしまいました・・・

乙一さんらしい作品で、うまく計算されていて、最後まで飽きさせない。
後半、読む者をグイグイと引き込んでいく力もある。
人間であれば誰もがもっている暗い部分、不安感や恐怖感がうまくあらわされているし、ちょっとした亀裂からどんどん空気がねじれてゆく、閉じられた空間での集団の心理もうまく描かれている。
アオの描写はなかなか怖い・・・

子供が主人公ということもあり、あまり凄惨なシーンはなく、ラストのもっていきかたや、最後の主人公の心境の変化など、好感がもてる。

　先生にいじめられる。こんな目に遭うのは自分しかいないだろうと思っていましたが、ここで同じ思いをしているやつがいるとは思いませんでした。
私が実際にあったことは小説にかかれるほど過剰ではありませんが、明らかに先生によってクラスに追い詰められた経験があります。
　これは個人的な私の経験なので、ここで書くのは省きますが、クラスメイト、保護者全員がいい先生と評価しているのに、自分だけ辛い目に遭うという孤独感はこの小説に書かれているものとリンクしました。
　私の場合、ただ傷つき、利用されたと思うだけでした。その先生は今ではどこかの学校で副校長をしているようです。今でもあの先生に私のような目に遭わされている子がいるかと思うと残念でくやしいです。
　小説では、少年が成長しながら先生をやっつけてくれます。泣き寝入りした私にはそれがスカッとしました。小説とは現実を洗い流せる想像力があるものだと感心しました。
　そこにいる君、君もこの小説を読んで同じ事を感じていませんか？
　私は仲間がいて、こっそりと微笑みます。
