こんな人が家族にいたら絶対に嫌だよね。
近所にいるだけでも嫌だ。
でも、その生き方には何故か引き付けられるものがある。
そんな主人公、金俊平の一生を書いた作品。

作者の実父がモデルとされているだけあって、
小説として誇張されている部分もあるのだろうが、
その存在感、リアリティーには圧倒される。

物語は1930年頃の大阪から始まる。
力で自分の好きなように生きる金俊平。
何故か無理やり妻にされてしまった英姫。
金俊平に振り回される親友の高信義。

金俊平の野放図な生き様と共に、貧しいながらも、
互いに助け合いながら生きる在日朝鮮人の生活が書かれる。
その助け合いの精神は殺伐とした現代では考えられません。

小説の技術としては、視点が定まっていない部分があります。
だけど、そんな欠点も気にならない位、この作品には読む者を圧倒する
骨太の骨と、熱い血が流れています。
凄い作品です。

映画「月はどっちにでている」の原作者、梁 石日が満を持して、書き下ろした悪漢大衆小説。読者のストーリー展開を次から次へと突き放す暴力と破壊を繰り返す主人公。著者の父がモデルとされているが、これまで聖域だった在日文学がこの悪漢小説で解き放たれた感がある。戦後の在日の人々の無法地帯での苦渋とそこを行きぬくための生＝欲望。

　第11回山本周五郎賞受賞作品。
　第119回直木賞候補作品(この時の受賞作品は車谷長吉『赤目四十八瀧心中未遂』)。
　｢宝島社　このミステリーがすごい！｣　1999年版　13位

　私は本書を読んでいる時、常に重低音のおどろおどろしい音楽が自分の周りで流れているかのような錯覚を覚えました。本書の内容は本当におどろおどろしいです。

　そして、おどろおどろしいかつ重い内容なので、本書を読んでおもしろかったり、感動したりすることはまずないと思います。
　しかし、私は本書に綴られていることに対して興味が尽きず、一気に読破してしまいました。
　一見矛盾しているようですが、このようなことが成立するのは偏に著者の力量によるものだと思います。
　おもしろくはないけど、読み始めると止まらない本書独特の世界へ是非足を踏み入れてみてください。

　上巻である本書では世界大恐慌の影響から空前の不景気に見舞われる日本が戦争という泥沼に足を踏み入れる頃から太平洋戦争の終結までが綴られています。
　全ての人が時代の波に翻弄される中、金俊平は身一つで我が道を行きます。
　極道も警察も恐れる鬼神のごとき金俊平。
　彼の生き様には興味が尽きません。

　下巻の方にもレビューを載せようと思っていますので、参考にしていただけると幸いです。
