ホームレス中学生の田村裕が大関だとすると、桂雀々師匠はまさに横綱ですっ！
小学６年生から中学生時代の実話（たぶん）は、泣き笑いしながら、時間の経つのも忘れて一気に読了しました。特に、１１本の色鉛筆（入力ミスではなくて１１本）では大笑いしましたし、ネタバレになるので書けませんが、身の毛もよだつような話や涙が止まらなくなるエピソードが盛りだくさんです。
高座では持ち前の明るさで楽しませてくれる師匠に、こんな壮絶な少年時代があるとは想像もしませんでした。
ぜひぜひ、老若男女を問わず、みなさん読んでみてください。

　｢とんでもね〜！」の一言に尽きる。古今亭志ん生の『なめくじ艦隊』･『貧乏自慢』よりある意味壮絶。その壮絶さは笑いで何とか中和されているのが救いと言えば、救いか。親の情はなかったが、近所の人情に「昔の日本」の良さを改めて知る。借金取りにも人情があったのだ！(笑)

以前、枝雀師匠の「枝雀とヨメはんと七人の弟子」を読んだ際に、
「なんか「雀々」だけはちょっと異質やなあ」と感じ、
以来ずっと気になっていたが、
その訳が本書で氷解した。
おすすめです。
