内容に関しては他のレビュアー様におまかせします。

主人公である塚崎多聞の言動・思考、各話の仕掛け、ストーリー構成。
そのうちのどれに作者が「不連続」の冠をつけたのか、それとも別の何かなのか。
それは私にはわかりませんが、読後の感想としては確かにシックリ来る気がするんです、『不連続の世界』というタイトル。
謎、不安、切なさ、怖れといった、精神の水面が波立つ感覚を味わわせてくれる物語のタイトルとして。
無論楽しめました。
☆４つでお薦めいたします。

ただし。
恩田作品に散見される、一種の偏りのある人物設定や、サプライズを意図するあまり、当たりハズレの差が大きくなりがちな物語終盤のストーリー展開＆オチ（本作においては「最終話」）。
それらの点は本作でも健在（？）。
個人的には「ハズレ」の方に転がることも少なくないのが残念です。
単に「各人の好み」に過ぎないと言われればその通りですが、同様に感じる方もいるであろうと思うので☆はマイナス１。

恩田陸の短編集！って感じです。
恩田さんのファンとして、とても楽しめました。
ホラーっぽくても最後にどこか救いのある、完全に地獄に落としきらない優しさがあって、それが恩田陸の好きなところです。（人によってはそれがぬるく感じるのかな？）
タイトルの不連続の世界ってのはあまりピンとこなかったですが、作品により書いた時期に１０年くらい開きがあるそうなので、時代背景のずれ方がリアルでむしろ良かったです。それが不連続感につながっていたかも。
初めて恩田陸を読む方にもおすすめできる一冊だと思います。

「不連続」をテーマとした全５編の短編小説。

既作「月の裏側」の登場人物の一人である、
塚崎多聞が主人公として活躍するミステリ。
既作を見る必要は全くありません、既作で名前だけ登場した
奥さんも登場しますが、おおそんな名前だったな！
と思うくらいです。

恩田陸の作品で、一人の主人公を置いた連作短編といえば
「象と耳鳴り」を思い浮かべるが、
本作は似た雰囲気ながら、より「月」に近いＳＦ感がある。
５編の中で最も気にいったのは、
聞いた人が死んでしまうという歌を追うミステリ「悪魔を憐れむ歌」なのだが、
この作品は上記「象」の一編「ニューメキシコの月」に非常に通じるものがある。

また本作は日本各地を転々とするが、
「まひるの月を追いかけて」の紀行情景描写、
「ユージニア」のノスタルジーも随所に見られます。
各短編の発表の幅が８年近く空いているだけに、
そういった移り変わりや比較も出来るんだろうと思う。

ここに挙げた既作のどれかでも好きな人なら、
かなり直撃の作品ではないでしょうか。
「象」が大好きな私としては久々のヒットでした。

…ただ、上記に「月」を見てなくても大丈夫とは書いたが、
それは同時に主人公は多聞である必要はあったのかなとも思った。
まあでも…最終章などは「象」の関根多佳雄ではきついかな。

「おまえ、多分『嫌な予感』が他人よりも発達してるんだよ。
無意識のうちに、何かが起こることを予感していて、知らず知らずのうちに身体が反応しているんだ。」本文264ページより
