タナダ ユキ
1975年福岡県生まれ。映画監督。2001年に初監督作品で主演も兼ねた「モル」がぴあフィルムフェスティバルでグランプリを含む2冠に輝く。04年には伝説のフォークシンガー、高田渡のドキュメンタリー映画「タカダワタル的」を監督。同年、監督・脚本作品「月とチェリー」公開。07年には、脚本を手がけた「さくらん」(安野モヨコ原作、蜷川実花監督)が大ヒットを博す。また、脚本・監督作品「赤い文化住宅の初子」(松田洋子原作)が公開(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

ちょっとしたことで前科者になってしまった佐藤鈴子。
家庭内での自分の居場所を見つけられなくなった彼女は、
百万円を貯めたら家を出て行くことを家族の前で宣言し、そして実行する。

鈴子も含め、この小説には臆病な性格の持ち主が何人か出てくるが、
自分も臆病な性格なので、共感できる部分が多々あった。

鈴子が前科者になってしまった経緯もそうだが、
些細な行動で、人間の運命は良くも悪くも変わってしまう。
言葉も同じ。ちょっとした一言であっても、人生を動かす力を持っている。

こう書くと、重いテーマを含んだ固い作品のようにも思えるが、
実際は軽く読めてなかなか楽しい。地の文でもクスッしてしまう部分もある。

この作品のラストはもしかしたら賛否が分かれるかもしれないが、
自分はこの終わり方で良いと思った。

同名映画の監督によるノベライズ。
客観的に見ればなかなか悲惨且つ重い境遇を
脱力系ながらもユーモラスな語り口で
一気に読ませてしまう手腕には感服。

予定調和に終わらないラストも
実は結構いいセンス。

最初に本を読み、DVDで見ましたが、面白いお話でした。
最初のとっかかりは、地元茨城と主人の実家福島の桃農家が描かれているため。
私の中では、何度でも読んでみたい本の一冊になりました。
