いつの頃からか、山田詠美さんの著書から黒人が消え、
少しは私と身近な人々になってきました。
最初の頃、もちろん素敵なのですがあまりにもスタイリッシュすぎ、
また私には非現実的過ぎて、どこか遠くで起こっていること、の
ようなものとして「眺めていた」感じがありました。
まあ、その頃はまだ高校生だった、というのもありますが。

今は立派な（年齢だけは）大人になって、
最近の『AtoZ』　や今回の『無銭優雅』など
ともすれば「落語？」と思えるほど軽妙な語り口、
しかしそこに美しい比喩や山田詠美らしい描写があり、
今回も魅了されました。

出てくる人たちが今までになるリアルで
すぐ映像化出来そうな感じです。
みんながこの本の中の「誰か」になれ、
そして「誰か」の気持ちがちょっと分かる。
そして、恋愛してると子供でも大人でも
みんなバカになるんだなー、としみじみ感じます。

40代って。自分が10代のころは「親」世代。圧倒的な大人。自分が20代のころは「部長、課長」世代。家庭を背負ったおじさん、おばさん。だと、単純に思っていた。
この本は、新しい40代観を与えてくれます。主人公の姪（女子高生）もあきれてますが、実のところ、こんなもんなんだろうな。人間意外に成長しないんだ。でも裏を返せば、みずみずしい気持ちを持ち続けられるということ。しかも、さまざまな経験を経て、キャパシティは広がっている。なかなかいいじゃないか。そう、楽しく読みました。

山田詠美の恋愛小説は、もともとある意味選民意識が強く排他的である。
大人で不埒で遊び心のある私たちは素敵、それが判らないコンサバな人お気の毒！
みたいな、ナルシシズムたっぷりの。だけど、そのすばらしい文章力と美しい
言葉の数珠繋ぎに魅了され「私もこんな傲慢に恋愛に生きるのって素敵だと思う！」
と、思い切り全肯定してしまう、そんな魅力が山田文学にはあるのだ。

しかし、今回は、その文章がガサツな感じで残念。別に、中央線に住まうあまり
リッチじゃない男女を書くのに、最近だと角田光代さん的なよく言えば庶民的、
悪く言えばビンボーくさい文体や言葉にしなくてもいいのに、と読んでいて
もったいないなーと思った。舞台装置がチープなのは楽しくていいけれど、
それを書く文章は山田さんらしい気品を盛り込んだものであって欲しかった。

そして、ヒロイン慈雨（42歳花屋）が惚れこんでいる栄（同年代の塾講師）という
男を、魅力的だと思うかどうかで、この小説の好き嫌いはわかれると思う。
私は、やたらよくしゃべる男だなー（しかもしゃべる内容はいつも幼稚・・・）と
思ってあまりタイプじゃなかったので、ふたりがどう愛し合ってても「楽しそう」とは
あんまり思えなかったんですよね。個人的に魅力を感じたのは、ヒロイン父のほう
だったり・・・
