小路幸也の他の作品からするとあっさりした作品に感じました。
（個人的には『HEART BEAT』が好きです。）
家族を凄惨な形で失った兄と妹が時を経て、自分達の新しい家族を見つける。
ここが私達のホームタウンだ。
という大団円で終わるまでに、兄が行方不明になった妹と婚約者を探す話。
２人の行方を探す兄である主人公行島柾人は、自分が振り返ることが出来なかった過去との対峙に挑む。
綺麗にこじんまりまとまった本です。

暗い過去を持って生きる兄弟、数年ぶりに妹の木実から届いた手紙には結婚する事にしたと書かれていた。相手の男性も全てを知った上での決意で有ったと書かれていて複雑な気持ちで受け止める柾人。
やがて木実の同居人と名乗る一人の女性美由紀から連絡が･･･妹の失踪。
妹の行方を捜す為･････帰らないと決めた故郷に！
実に完成度の高い作品だと思います･････読んでみて下さい。
特に柾人が身を置いている下宿先のばあちゃんや自分が追い込んだかも知れない為に一人に成った少女との生活、故郷で出会う人など、全ての人達が血の繋がり以上のものを感じさせてくれるのには胸にこみあげるものが有ります。

木実とその婚約者青山が同時にいなくなり、何らかの関わりがあるのではと思わせるところはおもしろかったが、あっさりと事件が解決してしまったため、物足りなかった。また、まさや、木実ともに家族を作ることを恐れていたが、実際には知り合いの家で大事に育てられているわけだからいまいちリアリティにもかけていた気がする。
