いつか別れるとわかる相手とのほろ苦い思い出．
もっとSFチックなものかと思っていましたが青春もの．

お話はとある殺人事件を軸に回ります．
そこへ未来から来たという美少女が主人公の青年を引っ張りまわし，
結果，彼女たちが犯人やそのトリックを明かしていくわけですが，
それ（事件）は大きな意味を持たずこのふたりの物語という感じです．

また，この美少女の時間移動やそのトリックがいい感じのスパイスになっています．
強すぎず弱すぎず，その上で物語に重要な意味合いを持たせて．

そしてついに訪れる別れ．
これから起こることを知っていて引き留められないもどかしさ．
それなのに別れたあとの青年のさわやかさがこれまたニクい．

読み終わったあとにタイトルを眺めると改めて切なくなります．
また，ページを戻してふたりの出会いのシーンを確認するとさらに．

『さよならの代わりに』のノベルス版です。が、ただのノベルス版じゃありません。作者自身のホームページにも書かれてましたが、プロローグが若干変わってます。作者自身が最初に書いた形に戻っているそうです。私は親本を持っているにもかかわらず、買いました。ノベルス版と四六版を読み比べて、どこが変わったかを探すのも面白いかもしれません。

キーマンとなる少女（祐里）は、ほんとに未来から来たの？
和季（主人公）は新條さんを救くえるの？　結局真犯人は誰？
と　一気に読めるストーリーです。
貫井氏の作品の中では『迷宮逆行』に似てる感じ？。
恋愛物ではないし　かといってバリバリの推理小説でもありません。
読み終えた時の気持ちは........あなた次第です。
