中盤あたりで女性達の間で何があったのか想像はつきましたが、私はこの作品がかなり好きです。
ラストがいい。ハッピーエンドだと思います。
あの女がやったことは許される事ではありませんが、報復はうけているのでまぁいいでしょう。
惜しむらくは、彼女達の死に間際の恐怖をもっと描いて欲しかったですね。

熱帯を舞台にした、ややホラー的なラブストーリー。

　この作者は人の闇や悪意を描くのが上手い。それを知っているから書くのであって、本人が言うように、光の部分について書くのは彼の役割ではないのだろう。

　美奈子は、大石作品の中でもっとも嫌悪される悪役だろう。

　『処刑列車』においても人間の悪意というものが描かれていたが、本作品は日常において、ありそうな悪意を描いている点が異なる。その悪意は、人と人が出会わなければ生じ得なかったような、些細なことが大きなことを生み出す点のようである。

「水底から君を呼ぶ 」というタイトル自体、ミスだと思います。その呼ばれる「君」の恐怖が全然描かれていません。一種の謎解きを含むストーリー展開なので、詳しくは書けませんが、その「呼ぶ」側の者の人生にもっと重点を置き、『履き忘れたもう片方の靴』の主人公のような被虐性を強調していたら、よかったのではないかと思います。
所詮、幽霊とか化け物の恐怖は薄いですね。かつての大石作品のような人間の意思そのものの恐怖を望んでおります。
