さすがは法律の専門家、裁判のやりとりについては、かなり詳しく書かれています。
映画「それでもボクはやってない」同様、
自分が巻き込まれていたらと考えると、思わずゾーッとしてしまいます。
こうやって冤罪は作られてしまうんだなあと、逆に感心してしまうほどでした。
それくらいリアルに描かれている小説です。
すべてが現実の通りだとは思いませんが、
普段「裁判なんて関係ないよ」と思っている人にこそ、ぜひ読んでもらいたい小説です！

やりきれない、の一言に尽きる。
被害者の両親と伯父、無実の青年とその母、弁護士、自らの失態を誤魔化そうと証拠をでっち上げる刑事と、正義感の強い刑事・・・
それらの人物の関係と司法制度とが悲しいほどに噛み合わず空回りを続ける様はほんとうにやりきれない。
フィクションのはずなのに、現実のルポを見ているようで・・・、
読んでいる途中で本気で憤りを感じた場面が何度もあった。

この作品の中の事件では、被告人の自白に重きを置きすぎたり、弁護側にだけ悪魔の証明を求めたりといった描写があったけど、
もしこれが現実に行われているものだとすれば本当にゾッとする。

ということで、骨太の社会派ミステリを読みたい人や読書して鬱になりたい人にオススメです。

心臓病の子を亡くした親、誘拐殺人により子を亡くした親、殺人容疑で子を亡くした親、留置中に親を亡くした子、従姉妹を亡くした子、姪を殺めた伯父、冤罪を立証できなかった弁護士。なんと次々と、やるせない無念さが集積された作品だろうか。この作品は、心が弱っているときには、決して読んではならない。恐るべき悔恨の衝撃を打ち付けてくる作品である。
