タイトルの良さが、読後にわかってくるほど、このタイトルがマッチしているように思う。草にすわり、つれづれに思いをめぐらす、草いきれをわずかに感じながら、悩む過程の不安定な感覚、そうしたものが押し寄せてくる。結果が是か非かは別として、そうした思いめぐらした分だけ、生きてきた甲斐があったと、感じさせられる、そんな思いを与えられる作品です。

１度でも自殺を考えたことがある人や、この世界に生きる価値を見出せない人には
人生を変えてしまうような素晴らしい文章がいくつか包含されていると思います。
人間の素晴らしい部分をここまで鮮明に美しく描写できるものなのかと歓心しました。

直木賞を逃し続けてる作家です。すいすいと読めてしまう軽い味わいが逆に評価を下げてしまうのでしょう。心中小説なのにふたりは死にません。しかも後遺症も無く、ふたりは交際を続けるのです。さらにサクセスストーリーに変化します。このラストに深みもせつなさも無い、哀しい結末もお涙頂戴もなし。それこそがこの小説の味なのです。ホンワカしています。しかし癒しを強調したイヤらしさはありません。テレビドラマ化したらいい作品になるでしょう。主役をジャニーズ系にしたら台無しですが。
