「死体もの」でいえば、『いつかあなたは森に眠る』『死者の体温』にくらべると、主人公の猟奇性がなし崩し的で、今一つしゃきっとしていません。線が細いですね。ただ、死体を車椅子に載せて、デートするあたりは、心地よくゾッとします。はやりの「ひきこもり」「自殺サイト」などを取り入れる意欲は認めますが、評価となるとはむずかしいです。ひきこもっていた人がいきなり長距離ドライブする点、章のはじめの薀蓄（最近多い）など減点して、星は３つ。

　大石圭は私が最も注目する作家の一人である。彼は「呪怨」等の超ヒットメーカーでありながら、常に疎外感と何者かに対する恐怖を感じさせるテーマを描いている。その内容が定式的である（フェラとクラシックが頻繁に出ることなど）ことも注目点だ。
　本書はその様な意味で最も大石らしい作品だ。引きこもりの青年が死姦を繰り返すことをやはり定型的に描いている。著者の作品を描いている姿勢は、異常者が何かしら箱庭療法しているようにも感じさせる。しかし、その内容は異常でグロテスクにも関わらず、透明感がありある種の繊細な美しさを宿している。それは彼の文章の技量が卓越していることにもよるが、作品を書く姿勢が真摯なことにもよるだろう。箱庭の内容がどんなに異常でも、その姿勢が真摯なら、悲しみに満ち溢れているのなら誰が咎められるだろう?
　最近の彼の作品を見る限り、段々無難でまともになっている。恐らく著者の箱庭療法は成功したのだろうが、狂気がなくなると共に作品の程度も落ちている。それは残念なことでもあるが作者のことを考えると喜ぶべきことであろう。まさしく作者こそがリアル「アルジャーノンに花束を」なのである。

どこかでひっくりかえるに違いないってずーっとがんばって読んだのに、このオチ？
あんまりだ。この人の作品はもう、金輪際お金を払って読まないことを誓おう。
