映画＆ドラマ化もされておりとても面白い作品です。
確か主人公鶴岡役を、映画では夏八木勲が、ドラマでは渡瀬恒彦が
演じていたと記憶しています。逆かな？
当時の映画コピー「狼は生きろ、ブタは死ね！」が強烈で、ダウンタウン
ブギウギバンドの主題歌も印象的でした。
有名な「光クラブ事件」を題材にとって、戦後のドサクサのなかで
大掛かりな経済詐欺に手を染める東大生がのし上がり、破滅していく
様を息もつかせぬ筆致で描いています。大部ですが全くあきません。
法の抜け道をつき巧妙に仕組まれた数々の詐欺手口の描写もスリリング
なのですが、鶴岡の尻尾を掴もうとする検察官との駆け引きも見所。
なにより、「悪の哲学」を身に帯びた主人公鶴岡の造形が一番の魅力
になっています。
高校生の時に初めて読んだのですが、この本で初めて手形の何たるか
を知りました（「裏書譲渡」とか「善意の第三者」とか）。
復刊したのはおめでたいが、なんか復刊する度に値段があがっている
ような気がします・・・

冒頭はこの小説の主人公である鶴岡が、推理小説の作者にこれまで自身が首謀した犯罪を語り聞かせる場面からはじまり、その告白を元に書かれたものとされています。

序盤に描かれる金融犯罪（ヤミ金）は、実際に起きた「光クラブ事件 / 山崎晃嗣」として知られる（白昼の死角では太陽クラブ）現役大学生による金融犯罪がほぼ事実通りで、主人公鶴岡はこの太陽クラブ（光クラブ）の残党という設定です。
このように事実を小説序盤のプロットに用いたことで、その後描かれる奇想天外な詐欺・金融犯罪の数々がいかにも真実をおびていてグイグイ引込まれていきます。また殺人は犯さず、法律の盲点を隠れ蓑とし「丸見え」の尻尾をつかませませず、理論武装であるときは立ち向かい、ある時はのらりくらりとかわす鶴岡の姿はまさにアンチヒーロー。脇を固める仲間、協力者、女性、被害者はみな個性的で物語を引き立てています。

恐ろしい本があったもんです。

確か、「狼は生きろ、豚は死ね」ですよね。
ここまで、非情に犯罪美学を追求する小説があったとは・・・。

今、工業から情報の時代に移ろうとしています。
そんな現代だからこそ、今一度「鶴岡七郎対策」が必要なのかも
しれません。

七郎が使ったテクニックは今では使えないものも多々あります。
しかし、その発想法は依然として斬新であり、猟奇的です。
今後を生き抜くためのも、一読しておく価値のある一冊だと思います。
