　海の近くに建つヴィラ。不動産屋の奥さんがお客さんを案内してくる。そこで出くわすのが顔を潰された死体。想像するに、なんともおぞましい光景ですが、なぜかほんわかした雰囲気の漂う出だし。

　海を見ながら暮らそうなんて思う人は、さぞかし穏やかな人なのかしらと思いきや、読むにしたがって見えてくる住人たちの素顔。ひとくせもふたくせもある住人達の中で、誰が犯人なのか？わくわくしながら読んでいきました。

　タイトルに「殺人」とついていながらも、表紙のイラストのようにどこかふんわり感のある、あったかいミステリーです。

ほんわかして、どこか間抜けなムード
ドキドキして、続きを読まずにはいられない殺人の謎解き
同居しなさそうな二つの要素が、違和感なく存在してました。

「小さな街を舞台とし、主として誰が犯人かという謎をメインにした、
　暴力行為の比較的少ない、後味の良いミステリ」
と、作者はコージー・ミステリを定義されてます。

とはいえ、ラストにサラっとしながらも
若竹先生流の毒が健在でしたが･･･

海に臨むヴィラ・マグノリア。ヴィラの住人はあまりに個性的。
その空き家になった一棟で、殺人事件が起きたというのにユーモア、ほのぼの感がある。
それでも骨太な納得の展開。
読後感は「すっきり！」です。
