このシリーズのすごいところはストーリーのよさもさることながら、
脇役や敵役の造形がうまいところだろう。
まるで息づかいまでが聞こえてきそうだ。
だから、一気に読まなくても、読み出してすぐに作品の世界に入れる。
推理系の作品でこういう作品はめずらしいのではないか。
シリーズものもここまでくると、なんとなく終わりを考えながら読んでしまうのが、
本好きの悲しい性かな。

今回の助演男優賞は鮫島の同期、香田警視正ですね。
第一作では類型的なキャリアとして、単なる敵役の扱いでしたが、
今回、より人間味を増しての再登場です。
カラオケで演歌を歌ったり、ゲイバーに呼び出される警視正殿には
涙しました。
このあたり、桃井課長の定年を前にして、新しいキャラを出して
おきたいという作者の思惑でしょうか。

物語の内容は、ＣＩＡに公安、さらには政界の大物が出てきたりと、
やや小ぶりだった前作から一転して、一気にスケールが大きくなります。
アクションあり、色恋あり、警察内部での暗闘ありと盛りだくさんの内容です。
巧みなストーリー運びでエンターテイメント作品として充分楽しめます。
ただ、丹沢でのアクションシーンは状況が少し判りづらかったですね。

今日も孤独な戦いをつづける鮫島。
「氷舞」では事件を追う中で立ちふさがる公安の巨大な壁と
その背後に控える大物政治家とに挑むことになる。

桃井、藪、香田といったおなじみの面々に加え、
事件に絡む立花、京山、そして謎の女性エミリと
脇役たちを巧みに描き出して、今回も一気に読ませる
完成度の高い一編に仕上がっている。

サブタイトルも漢字二字で渋いと思う。
