何気ない日常、その中で普通に生活しているつもりでも、いつの間にか犯罪に巻き込まれたり、身近な人間が急に疑わしい人間に変わったりすることがある。思いもよらないときに思いもよらないことが起こる面白さ。それがよく描かれていると思った。東野さんの味が出ている作品。

短編ものなのに、思いも寄らない殺人のトリックが味わえます｡おもしろい、コレ！！コメントより実際に読むべき。世にも奇妙な推理小説集です。飽きっぽい人でも、読む価値あり。話短くても、内容は濃い！！これって、推理小説の理想であり、基本でしょ｡

　長編を書いても、短編を書いても東野さんの面白さは損なわれませんね。まあファンの方ならご存知でしょうが(笑)。
　今作も短編小説とはこうあるべきというような、見事にまとまった秀作ぞろい。飛びぬけたトリックなどがあるわけではないですが、ミステリアスにしかも、短い作品ながらキャラクターの造形の巧さはさすが。キャラクターが生きているため、作品が生き生きしてます。
　コミカルなミステリーからダークなミステリーなど多彩なショートミステリーの中で、私のおすすめは「甘いはずなのに」。苦難の末のラストにともった明るさが見えそうな終わりかたがなかなかの出来です。
