手塚治虫の書いたエッセイということで、強く興味を持って、買いました。
なかなか読む暇がなく、眠らせておいたのですが、ふと、今日、引き込まれて１時間ほど読みふけってしまいました。
なんだか、読後の黙想、興奮冷めやらぬ中書いている、という感じです。

心のこもった、また熱意のこもった、非常に温かみのあるわかりやすい言葉に非常に感服しました。
世に認められた初めての、そして最高のマンガ家として大成する彼を創り出した功労者である母親、学校の先生との
思い出。ちょっと、すごいな、そうだな、と思いました。
率直に綴られた戦争体験、差別などの体験は読むのに辛くない。

「情報洪水」という言葉、将来へのIFの発想は素晴らしいと思う。
現代社会への、将来への一つ一つの警鐘、願いは、特段目新しいものではありません。でも、手塚治虫の、一つ一つの
経験、黙想の中で作り上げられた願いは、心に響くものです。
いろいろなご自身のマンガから引用して語っていくのもとってもおもしろいです。

すべての人に読んでもらいたい本です。
とってもわかりやすく、おもしろく書き上げているので、小学校高学年の子でも楽しんで読めるでしょう。
生まれて初めて読める「論説文」ではないでしょうか。中学受験でよく用いられるのもうなずけます。

また、例えば大学生の人にも、大人の人にも、親である人にも、ちょっと立ち止まって読んでほしいな、と思いました。
私自身、人生が１％ぐらい変わったような気がします。

大変感銘を受けました。書かれていることの多くは、手塚氏の漫画から感じ取ることはできますが、彼が残された時間の少ないことを察知してか、生の言葉で吐露された想いに強く打たれました。戦争、差別、環境、文化の違い等々に言及されており、おこがましいのですが私自身の問題意識を持っていることとほとんど重なっています。特に驚いたのは、まだ８０年代の末でありながら、現在のＩＴ革命の影の部分をしっかり予測し、指摘していること。まだ「メディア・リテラシー」などという言葉が日本で使われていなかった当時に、まさにその問題を看破しています。「先見の明ある」得難い一冊だと思います。

マンガに込められたメッセージを文字につづった一冊。
この本が書かれたのは、今から10年以上前のことだが、内容に全く遜色はない。
それどころか、テロや戦争の脅威にさらされている現代の方が、そのメッセージはより現実味を帯びて我々に迫ってくる。
医師の立場としては、既にこの時期から行きすぎたバイオテクノロジーへの警鐘を鳴らしており
そのテーマを「ネオ・ファウスト」に置いていたそうだ。
完成を見ることなく終わった作品に対する熱い思いを読むにつれ、その早過ぎた生涯が惜しまれる。

この本は、若い世代を対象に書かれたものだが
子供を持つ親や手塚のマンガを読んで心弾ませて成長した大人達にこそ、是非読んでもらいたいエッセイだ。

もし、今の大人達が手塚の言う「IFの発想」を持てたのなら
この世の中は全ての人々に取って、ずいぶん住みやすいものになるだろう。
