ガチガチに真面目なミステリ読者には気に入らないかもしれませんが、ミステリ論のメタフィクションとして読めばなかなか面白い。「作品に引きづりこまれる」のもいいかもしれませんよ。ポーやチェスタートンにも、そんな稚気がありますから。

深くないにしても関わってきますので、この作品の前に、「ミステリアス学園」を読んでおくべきかもしれませんね。
この作品を評価する時、どこを評価するかによると思います。
純粋なミステリとして読むと間違いなく別次元のものです。
「鬼のすべて」や「悪魔のカタルシス」の後であれば、この作品はその特徴の最たるものであるといえると思います。

外国が舞台で登場人物も当然ながら外国人ばかり．
主人公は日本人らしいのですが作中ではカタカナの名前．
このあたりよくわかりません．

また，ほかの登場人物たちはオールドミステリファンがニヤリとする人選らしいのですが，
ワタシがあまりそちらには関心がないせいかただ並べてみました的な印象．

そして事件のトリックというか本全体に仕掛けられたおまけがひどい．
奇をてらい過ぎているというか本の中だけで決着をつけてほしかったです．
そして最後がこれまたひどい．脱力というよりバカにされている気分になります．
いろいろへりくつをこねられ不快感さえ覚えました．

シリーズものでリンクなどもあったようですが，
残念ながらはじめてのワタシにそこまではわからず．
ただ，それを差し引いたとしてもひどい作品だと思います．
