3.0 out of 5 stars 宮本武蔵を無理に引っ張り出さなくても？, 2008/4/3
戦国時代の代表的な城を、歴史物語にとどまらず都市計画、建築技術からの視点も交え紹介している。
特に名護屋城や聚楽第など現存しない歴史上の名城にも事細かに触れているのも面白い。

ただ個人的には無理に宮本武蔵と城郭を関係づけた印象のある一章がいらない気がした。
最後の章は各地の城として松本城や姫路城を駆け足で紹介しているが、
著者自身が語るように「現存する城郭が必ずしも名城といえず、
たまたま残ってしまったといえるような例もある」という信念があるなら、
無理して紹介の範囲を広げる必要もなかった気がする。

本書でも触れているが朝鮮出兵時に戦国大名がかの地で建てた城郭について
具体的にひとつでも詳しく紹介してくれれば面白かったのではないか。
