1950年東京生まれ。一橋大学卒業後、三井信託銀行入社。米ノースウエスタン大学大学院MBA(ケロッグ・スクール経営学修士)取得。三井信託ロンドン支店を経て85年モルガン銀行に入社。資金為替部長、東京支店長などを歴任。東京市場屈指の為替・債券ディーラーとして名を轟かせ、「伝説のディーラー」と呼ばれる。2000年同行を退社、ジョージ・ソロス氏の投資アドバイザーを経て、現在はフジマキ・ジャパン代表取締役。また一橋大学経済学部、早稲田大学大学院商学研究科非常勤講師を務める(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

　この本は、同名の上下二冊の既刊単行本を合本し加筆修正したもののようだ。私は単行本は読んでいないが、本書は、為替・金利に関心ある人の必読書と言えよう。これまで、いろいろな人が書いた為替・金融の本を読んできたが、実務家である筆者が書いた本書は、実務に立脚しているだけでなく、これを理論的に解説している点で、一番評価できる。

　私は、本書を読んで初めて納得できたことが結構ある。例えば、社内レートも為替を動かす要因の一つになっていること、日米金利差が開くとドルが買われる理由、ヘッジファンドは円キャリートレードなどしていないこと、債券先物市場が長期金利を決めていると考えられること等々。この４つについて自分で理由を付けて回答できる人は読まなくても良いかもしれない。そうでない人には、４３０頁を読む時間とこの価格とを費やす価値が十分過ぎるほどある。

　金融取引に関する本はいろいろとありますが、ここまで実践的でわかりやすい本というのもなかなかないでしょう。
　この本を読むと、実際のディーラーが、いかにして利益を得ているかということが、少しだけどわかります。大学教授の書いた本が金融商品の説明だけで終わっているのに対して、この本はその一歩先を教えてくれる本です。

大学生に講義したものだけあって、金融の仕組みを噛み砕いて説明
した内容となっている。金利がどのように設定されるのか、先物市場
とは何なのか、インターバンク市場とは・・・
ときどき耳にはするけれど、どういう意味かはよく知らない。
そういった用語や知識を体系的に説明しているので、学生だけでなく
会社員にも役立つ内容だろう。
基本書としては、著者のキャラクターともあいまってかなり読みやすい
部類に入っているものと思われる。

また、文庫本のため、ボリュームの割りにかなり安価に設定されている
のも好感が持てる。

ただ、多少の経済の知識がないと読み込みにくいかもしれない。
「国債ってなに？」というレベルだと難しく感じるかも。
それと、講義形式なので多少くどく感じる人もいるだろう。この辺は
好みの問題。
その辺を差し引いて星４つ。
