入学を前にして、
「授業中は黙って座ってないといけないのよ。勝手にしゃべっちゃいけないよ」
「こぼさずに食べないと給食の時恥ずかしいよ」等々、
子供を脅すようなことばかりついつい言ってしまっていた私。
これでは小学校へ行くのが楽しみではなくなってしまうよね…と反省し、

そもそも小学校ってどんなところ？何をするの？

という子供にとっては至極当然な疑問や不安を解消してやりたいと思って
探し出したのがこの本でした。

この本では、小学校での生活の様子がただ時系列に説明してあるだけではなく、
友達同士の思いやりや助け合い、
お互いの違いを認め合う気持ち、
先生や先輩がちょっとした失敗も優しくフォローしてくれることなどもきちんと描かれていて、
親の私も一緒に読んでいて「息子の通う学校もこんなところだったらいいな」と
ちょっとジーンときてしまいました。

ただ単に「ランドセル背負うのが嬉しい」だけで終わってしまうような本が多い中で、
子と親の不安にきちんと向き合った良書だと思います。
ただ本を読みなれない子にはちょっと字が多めかもしれません。
