これまでネイティブ感覚を説明した書籍を多数読んできたが、
いずれも、今ひとつピンと来ない、あるいは、
中途半端な習得で終わるものばかりだった。

しかし、本書は違う。
ネイティブスピーカーが「基本動詞」に抱いているイメージを、
簡単な図を用いて、非常に分かりやすく説明している。
このイメージさえ押さえてしまえば、膨大な数の日本語訳を
機械的に丸暗記するなどという非効率な作業が不要になる。
実際に、本書を何度か眺めていくうちに、無理に暗記しようとせずとも、
自然と基本動詞のイメージが脳に定着していった。

"目から鱗"の内容も満載だ。
「getとtakeの感覚の違い」
「reachとarriveの感覚の違い」
「haveの使役とgetの使役の感覚の違い」
など、本書を読めばいろんな謎が解明するだろう。

英語を習い始めの人から、日本の英語教育にどっぷり浸かった人まで
幅広い層の方々におすすめしたい一冊である。

大西＆ポールの著書で一番最初に読んだのはこの本だった。

その理由は、
まずはなんとしてでも、基本単語の核義をつかんでいこうと思ったからで、
そのためにこの本が多いに役に立った。

イメージのイラストもさることながら、
説明もわかり易くて全部読み終えるのにそう時間はかからなかった。

短時間で読み終えてしまったのに、
１つ１つの単語をスッキリと理解しているのに気づき、
この本の凄さもジワジワと身に染みてきました。

読んでみた人であるなら分かると思いますが、
簡潔な内容であるのに、
感覚的には十分に満たされていました。

トップギアの宣伝もうまかったですが、大西さんの
お馴染みの少年の絵などもとてもよかったです。

大西さんって商売上手だな〜、と思っている方は私以外にも
大勢いると思いますが、
大西さんの著書で助けられた方も多くいると思います。

私もそんな一人なので、
これからも大西さんの英語の才能を吸い尽くしきるまで、
大西さんの著書は読み続けたいと思います。

runは「走る」という意味ではありません。「流れる」という意味もあります。
どうしてそんなことになるのか？
ネイティブの感覚が分かる！！ようにしてくれるのがこの本です。
ネイティブは、runなど、一つの感覚で覚えています。
別々に覚えているわけではありません。一つの絵で覚えています。
基本動詞の根本の意味を教えてくれるのがこの本です。

この本と、このシリーズの前置詞の本を読めば、熟語なんて覚えなくてもいいやと言う気になります。単語単語の本当の意味を知れば、熟語だって簡単に覚えられるのです。
超おすすめ！
ちなみに全国書店で売れているようです。
